Using Accessories and People Ages: 4-10
Think about when you give students accessories and LEGO People. Kids can often get distracted with decorating over the goal of the activity. I give students people once they have passed whatever tests their creation needs to pass.
I second the idea suggestion above.
Also, with LEGO people, I find it is important to find 'generic' figures for the students. The generic figures minimize complaints and prevents students from stealing the 'cooler' figures from classmates. Also, the generic figures makes it harder to individualize a project with LEGO figures - forcing the students to spend more time on actual building.
