Can I install and run RoboLab on Windows Vista?

RoboLab 2.5.4*

*RoboLab 2.5.4 has not been tested under the 64-bit version of Window Vista and it is unclear whether or not it will work correctly. It will work with the 32-bit version of Vista.

Installation Problems:
Installing RoboLab 2.5.4 on Windows Vista should be the same as installing in Windows XP.

Running RoboLab 2.5.4:
To date, our tests show RoboLab 2.5.4 runs well on Windows Vista without any additional configuration.

RoboLab 2.9.2**

**Due to a driver incompatability, RoboLab 2.9.2 will not work correctly under the 64-bit version of Vista. It will work with the 32-bit version of Vista.

Installing RoboLab 2.9.2 in Windows Vista:
Installing RoboLab 2.9.2 on Windows Vista should be the same as installing in Windows XP.

ROBOLAB 2.9 Error in Windows Vista:

There is an issue with fantom.dll (for NXT support) on Windows Vista. The above error is a common error when you try to click on any of the intro buttons in RoboLab on Windows Vista. To fix this, please follow the instructions on configuring RoboLab on Windows Vista:

Configuring RoboLab 2.9 to run on Windows Vista:

Running RoboLab on Windows Vista requires the program to be run as an administrator. Unlike Windows XP, running on an administrator account in Windows Vista isn’t enough for RoboLab to function properly. You must also configure your software to run as an administrator. To configure RoboLab to run as an administrator, you need to do one of the following:

Fixing the program for the Start menu icon

1)   Click on the Start Menu (the round button with the windows logo in it; this is usually at the bottom left of the screen).
2)   Click on All Programs.
3)   Then click on the RoboLab folder.
4)   Right-click on the RoboLab program icon and select Properties.
5)   Under the tab 'Shortcut' (which should be the tab that Properties opens to), click the button that says 'Advanced…'.
6)   Click the checkbox beside 'Run as Administrator' and click OK
7)   Click OK in the properties window.
8)   Now every time you run RoboLab from the Start window you will be running the program as an administrator.

Fixing the program from any shortcut

      If you run RoboLab from another shortcut other then the Start menu, follow lines 5-8 above after right-clicking the shortcut and choosing “Properties”.
