When I try to take data, my RCX shuts off!

22nd of April, 2010

The RCX powerdown time may be set too low.

In order for the RCX to conserve battery life, it is set to shut down automatically after 15 minutes regardless of what program is running. You can manually change that time by clicking the Administrator button in RoboLab, and then on the "RCX Settings" tab in the bottom right corner. You will need the RCX in front of the tower so that communication can occur.

With the RCX setting window open you should see the picture above. Make the changes by clicking on the time and typing in the desired time until the RCX shuts itself down. This should be set to a time greater than you require to collect data.
