Of course, some are more successful at moving than others. Please <a href=\"http:\/\/legoeng.local\/about\/contact-us\/\">contact us<\/a> if you or one of your students is interested.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Teacher notes<\/h2>\n<p>If there&#8217;s time available, this can also be a great way to introduce the EV3 software in an exploratory way for first time users, e.g. &#8220;Here&#8217;s the software. Can you work out how to make a motor move?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>If time is short, or you don&#8217;t have access to the EV3 software (sometimes I&#8217;ve still been waiting for the software to be installed during the first week of the school year), then this could be framed as a <em>building only<\/em> challenge by\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 17.6px;\">downloading\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.1rem;\">the following project onto all the EV3 bricks ahead of time.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Download:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/legoeng.local\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/Silly-walks.ev3\">Silly walks.ev3<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1.1rem;\">This project\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.1rem;\">contains four simple programs to run one or two motors, in either a forward or reverse direction.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_13639\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13639\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/legoeng.local\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/silly-walks-ev3-screenshot-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-13639 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/legoeng.local\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/silly-walks-ev3-screenshot-1-300x141.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"141\" srcset=\"http:\/\/legoeng.local\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/silly-walks-ev3-screenshot-1-300x141.png 300w, http:\/\/legoeng.local\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/silly-walks-ev3-screenshot-1.png 700w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-13639\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Silly walks.ev3<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Incidentally, I used to present this challenge as a &#8220;No Wheels&#8221; challenge, i.e\u00a0<em>make a robot that moves, without using\u00a0wheels\u00a0as\u00a0wheels<\/em>, but I&#8217;ve found that framing it in terms of moving in the silliest way possible promotes more creativity and experimentation. &#8220;Yes, you can use wheels, but it&#8217;s not very silly is it?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>When I give this challenge to my class as an introductory activity, I often provide each team of two or three students with the full EV3 Core Set (45544), but I&#8217;ve also found that it works well to give them a restricted set of parts.
